Here are the 13 types of documents that candidates must submit while filing their nomination papers: From deposit vouchers to share transaction details.

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The Election Commission (EC) has made it clear that 13 types of documents should be attached while registering nomination papers for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4.

A copy of the citizenship certificate or voter identity card of the candidate and a proof that the name has been included in the final voter list of any local level would be required while registering the nomination paper, said EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.

He further said that the candidate should also show that he or she has tendered resignation from any post in the federal, provincial or local government, or in the federal government, provincial government or local level or receiving remuneration from an institution funded by all three tiers of government.

If a candidate is to file his nomination paper, he/she will have to fill up the form as referred to in Schedule 11 related to Clause 24 of the Election of the Members of the House of Representatives Directive, 2082. Similarly, the EC has stated that a person having the qualification as per the prevailing law should also submit the nomination paper signed by one proposer and one seconder in the final voter list of the same constituency as per Rule 8 of the Election of the Members of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2074.

If a candidate has filed a candidacy on behalf of a political party, a formal letter of nomination will be required as per Schedule 7 of the Central Executive Committee of the party or the office-bearers of the equivalent committee. In the case of parties participating in the election jointly with a single election symbol, the formal letter of nomination of the candidate as per Schedule 8 of the Election of the Members of the House of Representatives Directive, 2082 should also be included.

They will also have to submit a receipt or voucher deposited in deposit of Rs 10,000 to the office of the returning officer. However, there will be 50 per cent discount on the deposit amount in case of women, Dalits, minorities or economically poor candidates, said Bhattarai. In the case of the poor, the letter recommended by the local level as economically poor should also be included.

The candidates should also submit their movable and immovable properties, accounts with banks and financial institutions, securities, shares, bonds and all the details of the loans given or taken to anyone in the format as per the Clause 9 of the Clause 9 of the Election of the Member of the House of Representatives Directive, 2082.

The personal details form filled up as per Schedule 10 related to Section 22 of the Election Directive, 2082, if any kind of submission has been taken from the body elected, nominated or appointed, should be attached. The EC has also stated that the evidence of settlement of arrears in the name of any candidate through auditing and the commitment letter as per the Schedule 3 of the Election Code of Conduct, 2082 should also be included.
