Kathmandu. Former President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Chairman of Global IME Bank, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, underscored the need of encouraging the private sector to revitalize economy and increase business activities.

Addressing the ‘Nepal-Korea Business Interaction programme’ organized by Nepal-Korea Entrepreneurs’ Association in Lalitpur today, Dhakal said that there was the possibility of success by investing in any sector in Nepal.

“The reason why Korea has been able to build the world’s most powerful economy in a short period of time is dedication, honesty, ethics and punctuality, the more we encourage the private sector, the more jobs and revenue will be generated,” he said. Former president Dhakal said.

According to him, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has tried to give a possible and positive message at a time when only negative narrative is being made in Nepal. He also expressed the belief that Nepal-Korea Entrepreneurs’ Association would work as a bridge to increase the economic activities between Nepal and Korea.

South Korean Ambassador to Nepal, Park Taeyong expressed his hope that such kind of interaction would play a significant role in promoting employment opportunities through Korean skills, promoting entrepreneurship and contributing to national economy. Stating that Nepal and Korea enjoy cordial relations, he said Korean companies are willing to invest in the IT sector to develop skilled human resources in Nepal.

Executive member of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Vice-President of Employment Council, Babukaji Karki, expressed his confidence that effective policy arrangement would be made along with stability in entrepreneurship and employment promotion sector as the country has a two-thirds majority government. The government has 86 per cent contribution to the national employment sector and 81 per cent to the country’s economy, he said, urging the government to create credible environment by carrying out necessary reforms in this regard.

Nepal-Korea Entrepreneurs’ Entrepreneurs’ Association’s senior vice president Biky Shrestha said the Nepal-Korea relation is not only of labour relation but also of experience exchange and business partnership. Nepal-Korea Entrepreneurs’ Entrepreneurs’ Association’s general secretary Jitendra Baniya said the NRNA aims to connect the entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs and investors in Nepal and Korea by converting their skills, experience and capital into Nepal’s production and employment.

He was of the view that the human capital of the returnees who returned to Nepal with modern industrial skills, culture, technical knowledge, and capital acquiring capital from Korea should be encouraged for production and employment in Nepal and implemented in practice.

The event was attended by representatives of government and non-government organizations, representatives of banks and financial institutions, successful returnee entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs and academicians among others.
