Kathmandu. The government has completed the reconstruction of the Pimaltar-Jagaram suspension bridge at Belkotgadhi in Nuwakot district, which was damaged by the floods of Bhotekoshi in Rasuwa.

The bridge has been brought into operation today after the works of straightening the logs, replacing the hand rail cable and installing steel deck and beams.

The Department of Local Infrastructure Development under the Ministry of Infrastructure Development has expedited the reconstruction and repair of bridges in the flood-affected areas. Due to the rapid initiative of the government, the repair work of 12 other suspension bridges in Dhading, Nuwakot and Gorkha has also reached the final stage.

These include Kalikasthan, Malinga-Majhuwatar Dovan, Maheshdovan, Keureni-Gahate, Chiraundi Khola, Sheetal Bazaar-Curenitar, Belkhu-Bhutia, Badre, Mahadevsthan, Fosretar, Jiling and Dhawadighat suspension bridges. These bridges will also come into operation within a week.

Similarly, the repair work of 7 more suspension bridges damaged by the floods has started. For this, the first phase of procurement of steel parts management has been completed and the agreement for the purchase of the second phase has been done.

Similarly, the detailed project report (DPR) for the reconstruction of 33 suspension bridges that were completely damaged by the floods has reached the final stage.
