Kavrepalanchowk. The water level of the Roshi river has crossed the danger level due to incessant rainfall since Thursday.

However, the water level in the river has fluctuated throughout the day on Friday, according to the Panauti-based Flood Information Centre under the Nepal Meteorological Department.

According to the centre, the water level of the Roshi River in Panauti crossed the danger level at 5:00 pm on Friday due to the change in the water level due to the flood in the Roshi River in Panauti. According to the department’s cardiologist Saurhad Joshi, the water level of the Roshi Khola in Panauti was 4.52 meters as of 5:55 pm today.

The water level in the Roshi River has been continuously rising, increasing the risk of erosion and flood in the lower coastal areas and surrounding settlements. The department has set up a flood measurement center near Bhumidanda of Panauti and a flood measurement center near Triveni Ghat in Panauti. According to the department, there is a possibility of rain in Kavrepalanchowk, Kathmandu and Bagmati provinces till Saturday evening. Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari appealed to the public not to go near the river after the water level in the Roshi River crossed the danger level today. Meanwhile, the flood in the Roshi River has swept away temporary diversions at two places of Kavrepalanchowk along the BP Highway.

According to the Division Road Office, Bhaktapur, the flood has swept away the diversions constructed mainly at Namobuddha Municipality-6, Chaukidanda and Roshi Rural Municipality-7, Ghumaune. Earlier, after the floods swept away the road two years ago, arrangements were made to construct diversions at the place and operate vehicles. Senior Divisional Engineer Suman Yogesh, chief of the office, said that the flood in the Roshi River along with the rain since Thursday night has washed away the diversions in most of the places.

Vehicular movement has been affected along the highway after landslides and diversions were swept away at different places along the highway. Vehicular movement on the highway has been disrupted since Friday morning as the condition of the highway is risky due to floods and landslides. The District Administration Office, Dhulikhel, has said that it can be closed during the day time as well depending on the situation of floods and landslides.
