Tanahun hydropower project makes 78 per cent physical progress

Tanahun. The 140 MW Tanahun Hydropower Project in Tanahun has 78 percent work completed. The physical progress of all the three packages of the project under construction in Rishing Rural Municipality-1, Jhaputar is noteworthy.

According to project chief Shyamji Bhandari, the construction of headworks including dam under package 1, main tunnel, powerhouse and related equipment under package 2 and 220 KV transmission line in Damauli Bharatpur under package 3 are going on.TAG_OPEN_div_27

Under package 1, the construction of the dam and other structures is being done by Songda Kalika JV. Bhandari said that 63 percent physical progress has been made in this package. For the construction of the main dam, the construction of hill erosion, access road, temporary dam to divert the flow of Seti River, two diversion tunnels has been completed.TAG_OPEN_div_25

For the construction of the 140-meter high dam of the project, the first concrete was laid on March 7, 2081 BS. In the month of August alone, 33,6 TAG_OPEN_div_23 81 cubic meters of concrete was laid. So far, 507,442 cubic meters of concrete has been completed.

Under package 2, Sino Hydro Corporation China is carrying out the work of powerhouse and related equipment. Bhandari said that the civil construction work of most of the structures has been completed. The physical progress of this package has been completed with the completion of the main concreting work of the powerhouse, cable tunnel, search tank, tailrace and other structures.TAG_OPEN_div_21

According to Bhandari, the concrete lining of the main tunnel used to divert the water of the reservoir to the power house is underway. A total of 1,418.75 meters of concrete lining has been completed so far.TAG_OPEN_div_19

Under the package 3 transmission line, KEC International Limited, India, has constructed the foundation of 83 out of 94 towers of the Damauli-Bharatpur 220 KV transmission line and 80 towers have been erected. The transmission line is 33 kilometers long.TAG_OPEN_div_17

Project Chief Bhandari said that the construction of the transmission line has gained momentum after the Division Forest Offices of Chitwan and Tanahun received permission to enter the forest area and cut down trees. The physical progress of this package is 82 percent.TAG_OPEN_div_15
