Investors’ 38-point advice to SEBON Chairman Dr. Bhatta: Reduce 15-day notice of promoter shares to equal standards in margin trading

Kathmandu. Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) Dr. Gopal Bhatta has been given a 38-point suggestion by three major organizations of investors for capital market reform. Nepal Investors Forum, Nepal Capital Market Investors Association and Share Investors Association Nepal have jointly presented various policy and structural reforms to the Board.

The investor associations have submitted their suggestions to the board in 38 points, mainly divided into six thematic headings. The suggestions cover topics ranging from free trading in the secondary market, the structure of IPO and promoter shares, bonus and right price adjustment, margin trading, transaction settlement and overall regulatory reforms.

The investors have stressed the need for timely review of the existing policies and transaction system to make Nepal’s capital market sustainable, transparent, competitive and enhance investors’ confidence.
