Kathmandu. On the day of Laxmi Puja, the highest domestic demand for electricity in Nepal reached 1,813 MW. Nepal has exported 587.30 MW of electricity by meeting the domestic demand.
According to the data of the Nepal Electricity Authority, the peak demand of the national electricity system reached 1,813 MW at 6:15 pm on November 8, 2083. During that time, a total of 2,400.30 MW of electricity was generated in the system.
Of the electricity produced, 587.30 MW was exported, according to the NEA’s data. This shows that the electricity produced in Nepal is still in exportable condition even after meeting the domestic demand.
On that day, the highest number of 1,536.50 MW of electricity was generated from the private sector power projects. Similarly, 499.20 MW of electricity was generated from the subsidiary companies of the Nepal Electricity Authority, 342.30 MW from the river-based and semi-reservoir projects and 22.30 MW from the reservoir-based projects.

At the time of Laxmi Puja, the maximum power demand in the Kathmandu Valley reached about 489.50 MW. The frequency of the system is maintained at 50.120 Hz, according to the NEA.
The details of electricity generation and demand on the day of Laxmi Puja show that with the expansion of generation capacity in Nepal’s electricity system, a situation has been created to export a large quantity of electricity by meeting the domestic demand.
