Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has urged the government to ensure security to create an environment conducive for business with high morale.

A delegation led by FNJ President Chandra Prasad Dhakal on Thursday met with Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal at the Home Ministry and urged him to this effect. He suggested the government to take concrete steps to guarantee peace and security.

He urged the government to pay special attention to security as the private sector has not been able to feel security in the districts.

Stating that some industrialists and businessmen were ready for the reconstruction of police structures, Dhakal urged the Chief District Officers to coordinate with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry for the same.

He also urged the minister to take action against those involved in the attack, vandalism and arson of private property during the agitation.

Dhakal was of the view that the government should also disseminate positive message to create an environment conducive for the private sector to work in a dignified manner while contributing to the country’s revenue. The private sector contributes 81 percent to the country’s economy and 86 percent of the employment is provided by the private sector.

On the occasion, Minister Aryal said that the government was sensitive towards the security of the general public and businessmen.

FNCCI vice-presidents Hemraj Dhakal and Jyotsna Shrestha and treasurer Bharat Raj Acharya urged the government to guarantee security to the government that hundreds of businesses of the private sector had been affected during the agitation and the incidents of vandalism and arson had caused huge financial loss. They drew the attention of the Home Minister towards impunity if action was not taken against the guilty. The federation is collecting details of the damage caused in the incident.
