Kathmandu. The government is now insuring itself after the Zenji agitation caused billions of rupees in damage to government property.

The Ministry of Finance is preparing to start the process of providing comprehensive non-life insurance of government vehicles and insurance of government physical infrastructures. Previously, only third-party insurance was available for government vehicles. After the protesters torched and vandalized around 20,000 government vehicles, the government is preparing to provide comprehensive non-life insurance to the government vehicles. According to the Ministry, the insurance company will provide insurance to the government vehicles in case of arson, vandalism, damage due to mob riots and any damage to the people in the vehicle.

The issue of insuring government property was raised a lot during the catastrophic land crisis of April 26, 2015. At that time, the government property was not properly documented and it was not insured. 10 years later, in the name of the Genji movement, there is a sense of complete destruction of government vehicles and government buildings.

The state has suffered a loss of billions of rupees due to the lack of insurance of government property. Now, the government is aware that it should be insured. According to the Ministry of Finance, the use of government vehicles will also be curbed by insuring government vehicles and physical infrastructures.

The Ministry has decided not to provide more than one vehicle to the political and administrative officials who get the vehicle facility except as specified in the related laws.

The ministries, central bodies and offices that have damaged vehicles will manage the damaged vehicles from the vehicles of their subordinate departments, bodies or offices.

For the convenience of political and administrative officials, the management of vehicles from available vehicles without purchasing new vehicles and separate facilities for the officials and employees receiving vehicle facilities

The Ministry of Finance is to prepare the criteria within 45 days and manage it accordingly. The vehicles available for the purpose of holding the election on time and for the purpose of peace and security can be purchased if there is a shortage.

The government has decided to use old items like vehicles, mobile phones, furniture, laptops, desktop computers and motorcycles for the use of officials and employees of federal, provincial and local levels.

The office items such as buildings, tables, chairs, drawers, sofas, machine tools, furniture etc. will be handed over to the offices damaged by the extraordinary situation created during the Genji agitation from the nearby offices. According to the Ministry, the goods so transferred will be handed over through the decision of the chief-level of the office.
