Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) ICC President Mahesh Kumar Shrestha has pledged to support the reconstruction of the road in coordination with the security agencies.
Shrestha said this while inspecting the reconstruction of the traffic control room in the Kathmandu Valley which was damaged during the Gen G movement on September 7 and 24.
During a meeting with Superintendent of Police (SP) Nawaraj Adhikari, Traffic Chief at Baggikhana, Shrestha said that they are going to help in the reconstruction work as road safety is very important to bring normal life and bring the society back to normalcy.
On the occasion, SP Adhikari appreciated the support provided by NRNA and stressed on the need of cooperation in the coming days as well. He said that now the office service is being done from tents and it will be much easier after the traffic control room comes into operation.
Manoj Shrestha Gorkhali, vice-president of NRNA and coordinator of the disaster management committee, said that the foundation is currently working and the equipment will be installed soon. Similarly, Joint Coordinator and Women Vice-Chairperson Rashmi Thapa said that preparations are underway to complete the work before the Dashain Tika festival.
During the protest, all the structures of the traffic control room were destroyed. It is estimated that at least Rs 80 lakh will be required to complete the structure. NRNA President Shrestha said that the NRNA will provide computer, TV, furniture, radio set and other equipment. NRNA campaigner Rajendra Kumar Sharma stressed on the need for the government to focus on reconstruction work in collaboration with Nepalis living abroad.
Likewise, Shrestha also held discussion with Dan Bahadur Karki, AIG of Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, on Tuesday. AIG Karki also thanked the police for providing necessary equipment. NRNA Abhinta Janaki Gurung, Youth Coordinator Bhimsen Thapa, Member Secretary Dharma Raj Giri, members Pradip Khanal, Nirajan Khatri and others were present on the occasion.
