How does the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund work, who is on the committee? This is the reply of the Energy Minister.

Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kul Man Ghising has apprised the public about the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund.

During the Jenji agitation on September 23 and 24, there was a huge loss of property and damage to the physical infrastructure.

The Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Committee (Formation) Order-2082 has been approved and implemented as per the decision of the Cabinet meeting held on September 20 with the objective of assessing the damage to physical infrastructures and reconstructing the physical infrastructures.

The formation order has formed a committee named ‘Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction’.

The committee will be chaired by the Finance Minister. The committee comprises the Home Minister, the Urban Development Minister, the Chief Secretary and the Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development as the member-secretary.

This committee will formulate and approve the action plan for the reconstruction of physical structures damaged by the agitation.

The committee will also approve the programmes to be spent from the fund. The committee will also carry out regular monitoring and supervision of the programmes.

The formation order has mentioned about the secretariat at the Ministry of Urban Development and the management of employees. The formation order has made provision for the fund for the reconstruction, rehabilitation, relief and rehabilitation of the physical structures damaged by the agitation.

The Ministry of Finance had informed about the establishment of the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund on September 22.

The Physical Infrastructures Reconstruction Fund has been established to reconstruct such infrastructures, economic recovery and relief, as the physical structures suffered heavy damage due to arson and vandalism during the Genji movement.

The government of Nepal has appealed to all to contribute to the fund by making invaluable contributions from the Government of Nepal, provincial and local governments, private sector, domestic and foreign citizens, the Non-Resident Nepali community, friendly countries, development partners and international organizations.

In this difficult situation, it is necessary to maintain stability in the society, maintain peace and security, and to reconstruct the structures damaged during the movement, rehabilitation and economic revival, among other programs.

Issuing the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Committee (Formation) Order-2082, the committee has also requested all Nepali brothers and sisters, Non-Resident Nepalis, donor agencies, national and international organizations and the private sector to extend support for the reconstruction, economic reconstruction, relief and rehabilitation of the physical infrastructures damaged by the agitation.

The amount deposited in the fund will be spent transparently.
