. Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chandra Dhakal to take stock of the problems faced by the private sector. The meeting that usually takes place in the presence of FNCCI office-bearers and some former presidents has been an exception this time.
} After the news of the Prime Minister being prepared to meet the Prime Minister alone, there has been dissatisfaction within the FNCCI and in the business community. “All the problems of the private sector will not be solved by meeting the chairman alone, such a decision of isolation is not good,” said an office-bearer. ”
In the political situation after the Genji movement, there have been allegations that the private sector has not been able to build trust in the government. The dissatisfaction has increased as no action has been taken so far regarding the vandalism of industrialists’ establishments and private property during the agitation.
{{TAG_OPEN_p_7} On top of that, the dispute between the old trunk line and the dedicated line has made the situation even more complicated after the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) cut off electricity to about two dozen industries. Due to lack of mutual understanding between the industrialists and the NEA, the production has decreased and the workers are on the verge of losing their jobs.
} The private sector has expressed concern that this one-on-one meeting with the Prime Minister will add confusion and division rather than solve the problem.
