Credit to agriculture sector declines by 3.46 percent in Lumbini Province

Kathmandu. The total area covered by food and other crops has decreased in Lumbini Province.

According to a study conducted by Nepal Rastra Bank, the area covered by food crops has decreased by 1.42 percent to 768,968 hectares in the fiscal year 2081/82 as compared to the previous year.

In the review year, the production of food and other crops increased by 3.43 per cent to 3,380,327 metric tonnes compared to the last year. The production of milk, meat, egg and fish has increased by 2.88 per cent, 3.03 per cent, 3.11 per cent and 13.98 per cent respectively compared to the last year. In the review year, timber production has increased by 2.34 percent compared to the previous year.

According to the NRB, the share of loans in the agriculture sector has decreased by 3.46 percent while Rupandehi district has the highest share of 43.80 percent and Rukum East has the lowest share of 0.40 percent.

The average capacity utilization of industries in Lumbini Province is 50.60 percent. Among the industries that were selected, the industries producing rosin have utilized the highest capacity of 88.69 per cent while those producing the least dry syrup have utilized 8.64 per cent.

Likewise, the production of synthetic cloth has increased by 170.77 percent in the review year. Similarly, credit to the industrial sector has increased by 6.93 percent. The highest credit flow to the industrial sector is 43.63 percent in the agriculture, forest and beverage production industries and the lowest is only 1 percent in electricity, gas and water industries.

As per the data collected from 10 hotels under the model service sector, the number of hotel beds decreased by 34.20 percent, the number of beds sold by 45.74 percent and the number of tourist arrivals by 61.78 percent. Likewise, the number of real estate registrations has increased by 42.82 per cent. Likewise, the revenue from real estate registration decreased by 5.45 per cent compared to the previous year.

According to the central bank, the deposit mobilization of the banks and financial institutions in the province has increased by 15.43 percent and the total loan has increased by 2.92 percent as compared to Ashad end, 2081 BS. The total capital of the selected savings and credit cooperatives decreased by 2.44 percent while the savings mobilization increased by 6.16 percent. The loan flow from these institutions has increased by 2.50 percent.
