Industry Ministry unveils 39-point action plan to make public services effective

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has immediately implemented a reform action plan with the objective of increasing the effectiveness of public services.

The Ministry has come up with a 39-point action plan for the reform of industry, commerce and supply sector.

It is stated in the action plan that policy and legal facilitation would be made for promoting business good governance, development of micro-enterprises for poverty alleviation and employment and income generation opportunities would be created through protection and promotion of traditional and unique occupations of Dalit community.

For this, the government has set a target to draft the Companies Bill-2082 to promote investment by improving the industrial and business environment and to amend the Micro Enterprises Development Programme Operation Directive-2077 for poverty alleviation.

Joint-Secretary and Spokesperson at the Ministry, Jitendra Basnet, said that an action plan has been brought into effect for immediate improvement in service delivery. “Works are underway to formulate policies, laws, plans and working procedures for the smooth implementation of the projects announced in the budget, policy and programme of the current fiscal year,” he said.

Spokesperson Basnet said that the Ministry’s Division, Company Registrar’s Office, Department of Industry, Small and Cottage Industries Promotion Centre, Industrial Entrepreneurs, Industrial Zone Limited, Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection among other bodies have been made responsible for the implementation of the action plan.

The action plan includes simplification of services related to industry administration and facilitation of startup loan flow, enhancement of effectiveness of services related to company administration, safe and systematic record management, work procedure simplification in company registration and liquidation process and enhancement of efficiency.

The action plan aims at policy reforms in the multilateral trade sector, effective implementation of multilateral trade policies, capacity building, improvement in bilateral trade and transit system for the improvement of the trade sector.

Likewise, various agencies will work for domestic production and market promotion, transparency of business-related services through the use of information technology, ensuring the continuous supply of essential goods and food availability, transparency in the distribution of petroleum products, among others.
