Tokyo. Toyota Motor Company has set a new record in sales worldwide in May 2025. According to the company, a total of 898,721 vehicles were sold in May, which is an increase of 6.9 percent compared to the same period last year. This number is the highest sales in May so far.
This increase is due to the growing demand for hybrid vehicles in the US, China and Japan. Sales in the United States, in particular, rose 10.9 percent to 240,176 units, while in China, sales rose 6.8 percent to 149,887 units. Similarly, sales in Japan rose 4.4 percent to 106,586 units, with improvements from certification problems seen last year believed to have played a positive role.
Although there has been a significant increase in sales, the company has reported a small decline on the production side. Toyota’s global production fell 0.7 percent to 806,677 units in May 2025, the first drop in the last five months. It is said that this effect has been due to the decrease in working days in Japan.
Similarly, production in the US declined by 1.8 per cent to 120,539 units, while domestic production in Japan declined by 5.4 per cent to 241,570 units. The company has made it clear that it will continue to strive to stabilize and improve both production and sales in the future.
