Kathmandu. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has stressed the need to call office assistants to constables in Nepal Police as ‘basic level’.

During a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives on Sunday, home minister Lekhak said that a new term should be introduced as basic level from office assistant to head constable.

“In the police, words were used to refer to office assistants to jawans to constables as lower-level employees. I have started a new word,” home minister Lekhak said, adding, “I have said that those police personnel should be called the basic level.” A large number of police personnel are jawans and constables. Since it is the highest level of duty for 12 to 16 hours on the road, the ‘permit’ stands on the same foundation, so even when writing in the law, let us write it at the basic level. Let’s also use it as a basic level in speech. ’

Minister Lekhak said that the Police Act has been brought keeping the facilities of the police personnel of that level at a special center. “We all have the same aim of amending the laws related to Nepal Police to make the best laws,” he said. ’

He said that the government is ready to reach a conclusion by making this law the best by communicating the Police Act openly.

“It is the common objective of all of us to improve the issues of nepal police from the security of the nation to fulfill its responsibilities and from the time of joining nepal police till the time of retirement,” he said, adding, “Nepal Police law is one of the oldest laws of this country.” So far, no new one has been brought in timely modifications. I would like to request you to present it in this session and move forward with priority. ’
