Footballer Rajukaji Shakya and national women’s volleyball team captain Aruna Shahi honoured

Kathmandu. Sharad Chandra Shaha Memorial Foundation has concluded the second edition of its annual year.

This year too, a senior player and a young player have been honoured in this award ceremony established with the aim of honoring established personalities and emerging talents who have contributed to Nepali sports.

This year’s award was given to Nepali football legend and former captain Rajukaji Shakya in recognition of his outstanding and outstanding contribution as a player and coach in Nepali football. Under Shakya’s leadership, Nepal won a historic gold medal in the South Asian Games.

Nepali women’s volleyball team captain Aruna Shahi was also felicitated. He has been honored for his significant contribution in the development of volleyball in the country and in providing inspiration to women players. Under the leadership of Shahi, the Nepali women’s volleyball team has achieved remarkable success at the international level.

Both of them were awarded a cash prize of Rs 250,000 each. Sharad Chandra Shaha Memorial Foundation was established on November 30, 2020 by his family members in memory of late Sharad Chandra Shaha. Sharad Chandra Shaha is known as the man who brought major changes in the history of Nepali sports. He is also the first Nepali to serve as vice-president of the Asian Olympic Council.
