Cucumber, godeda, cauliflower and banda grown on the farm. Chandra Lal Pandey is found in the field near the farm. It is Chandralal’s daily routine to cut the grass of the field, water the takari and feed buffaloes. He doesn’t leave the farm except for casual work. He doesn’t even have time to go.

Chandra Lal, who arrived in Qatar about 20 years ago, said he had been there for five years. A foreign land, a sad thing, the abuse of the moneylender on it, so that he did not want to live abroad. After spending five years, he returned home. After returning to the village, he started cultivating vegetables commercially from Bikram Samvat 2067. Gradually, he started selling milk by rearing buffaloes. At present, Chandralal has been earning a good income by selling vegetables and milk.

He cultivates vegetables in 24 ropanis of land and sells 30 litres of milk daily by rearing five buffaloes. There is no problem in selling vegetables and milk produced by him as it is close to the Burtibang market. He is trying to increase production as much as it is consumed in the market. Chandra Lal, who has been continuously cultivating vegetables and producing milk for 15 years, is happier and happier than abroad. He said that the pain of abroad has taught him to become an entrepreneur in the village.

“I used to cultivate vegetables normally before going abroad, but I could not become as professional as I am now, I went to Qatar to earn a lot of money, I had to work very hard there, I could not bear the harsh abuse of the moneylender and wanted to do the same thing by returning to the village,” he said, “I am now 40 years old, many young people of my age are abroad, if I return to the village and cultivate vegetables commercially, I can earn more than Saudi Qatar.” ’

He ran a family of eight by selling vegetables and milk. According to him, his father, mother, wife and four sons have taken care of this profession. Recalling that earlier there was a problem in running the household, Pandey said that vegetable farming has made it easier to live. He said that he has been producing unseasonal vegetables, especially in winter. Initially, he started his business with Rs 15,000 and so far he has invested around Rs 3.5 million, he said.

Stating that agriculture knowledge centre Baglung has provided Rs 1.5 million for tunnel, construction and other arrangements, he complained that he could not get the required support from the municipality. Stating that he used to pay Rs 18,000 as salary by hiring a full-time worker, he said that from time to time he also provides employment to other youths of the village. Chandralal said that he earns Rs 100,000 per month by selling vegetables and milk. He said that some property has been added from vegetable farming.

He said, “Vegetable farming has also improved my financial condition, earlier there was only six muri paddy fields, now I have bought another 34 muri paddy fields, i have added a ghadri in the Terai, I understand that success can be achieved after working hard with patience, my whole family is satisfied with this profession. Self-satisfaction is the biggest thing, wealth is added to hard work. ’
