Kathmandu. The physical progress of narayangadh-Butwal road construction project has reached 69 percent. Information Officer of Narayangadh-Butwal Road Project Eastern Section, Shiva Khanal, said that the physical progress of the construction has reached 69 percent as the deadline extended for the third time is coming to an end.
China State Construction Corporation Pvt Ltd had started the work of narayangadh-Butwal road expansion project on August 15, 2019. The deadline was extended for the second time till July 15, 2018 as the work was not completed within the stipulated time. The deadline was extended for the third time in July 2018 as the work was not completed even during this period. By the end of this period, 69 percent of the work has been completed.
The process of extending the deadline for the project has been initiated for the fourth time. A total of 113 kilometers of Narayangadh-Butwal road was divided into two sections. China State Construction Corporation Pvt Ltd, which is responsible for the construction, has sought an extension of 576 days.
Traffic has been operating through diversion after a bridge at Binayi Khola of Dumkibas along the Narayan-Butwal road section collapsed. After the bridge collapsed in December last year, traffic has been crossing the diversion. Drivers and passengers have been facing problems due to frequent floods caused by the rains.
The project has constructed a new bridge next to the broken bridge. According to sources, if the weather permits in the bridge, it will be blacktopped on Wednesday and the plan is to start operation on Saturday. If the new bridge comes into operation, it will be easier for the drivers and passengers who are suffering due to diversion.
