Karnali. Surkhet: Two persons have been arrested on the charge of extorting money from the District Police Office, Surkhet.

Krishna Bahadur Tharu, 43, of Shanti Bazar Bardiya of Geruwa rural municipality-3 and Muna Chand, 34, of Birendranagar municipality-13, Surkhet, have been arrested, according to Superintendent of Police Sudhir Raj Shahi.

Tharu has been living in a dera at Birendranagar Municipality-10, Surkhet. According to Police Chief Shahi, the accused Tharu and Chand had demanded Rs 50,000 for the purpose of recovering criminal benefits saying that the police administration should be arranged for the families of the culprits of indecent behavior, otherwise your people could go to jail.

He said that investigation is underway after taking remand from the honorable court for taking criminal benefits by taking financial benefits dishonestly.
