Kathmandu. The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division has urged people to remain alert as the next four months are the most risky period of dengue infection. It is estimated that around 60,000 people may be infected with dengue this year. In an interaction organized by the Division, experts said that the easiest and most effective way to destroy the reproductive system of mosquitoes is to prevent human loss due to dengue.
Dr Gokarna Dahal, chief of the Pest Disease Section, said a campaign should be launched to destroy the larvae and flowers of the mosquitoes for more than four months to destroy the dengue-causing species of mosquitoes. “Even if you work inside the house with swings, incense or other mosquito repellents, you can be bitten by a mosquito containing the virus when you go out of the house. Therefore, all the cycles, including the flowers of such mosquitoes, should be destroyed in the time of the local municipalities,” he said.
He, however, said that the health workers of the municipality have many types of work, so it is difficult for them to continue the work of destroying them for four consecutive months. The Division has collaborated with 147 municipalities in 17 districts regarding dengue disease. Division Director Dr Chandra Bhal Jha said, “Dengue cannot be controlled only by the efforts of the health sector. He also said that in some countries, the Ministry of Environment has taken the responsibility of controlling mosquitoes. Director Jha said that the risk of dengue will increase more than anticipated due to the accumulation of pits, small pots and discarded tyres everywhere along with the rainy season in the city. “Apart from this, it has also become easier to make mosquitoes bloom and grow children with refrigerators and AC water at home,” he said. ’
This year, the government has allocated Rs 100 million for the next fiscal year for the search and destruction of mosquitoes. The disease, which is transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected female mosquito of the Aedes species, usually spreads in temperate and temperate areas.
However, due to the impact of climate change, the country has expanded in the hilly areas of the country over the last decade. If the mosquito bites the dengue patient, the mosquito can be infected and transmitted to a healthy person. The life span of this mosquito is 1 to 3 months.
High fever, severe headache, pain behind the eye and muscle pain are very painful due to dengue disease. Also, some people may feel nauseous and vomiting. He also informed that the government has made special preparations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and cholera along with dengue.
