Rasuwagadhi transit point contributes 40 percent vehicle tax to revenue

Rasuwa. Chinese vehicles account for 40 percent of the total revenue from customs duty.

According to the Customs Office, about 40 per cent of the revenue collection from July 208/82 to July 15 has been received from vehicle tax alone.

According to Chief Customs Officer Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai, rs 29.65 billion has been collected in the same period of the current fiscal year as compared to Rs 20.21 billion in the same period last year.

According to the Office, shoes and slippers, readymade garments and materials of hydropower projects operating in Nepal are imported from Rasuwagadhi border point.

According to the Customs Office, more than 6,500 small and big vehicles have been imported during the current fiscal year and goods worth more than Rs 3 billion have been exported to China. Despite paying customs duty, some importers have kept their vehicles in queues inside the hands of the customs office as they have not taken them yet.

The Customs Office has requested the concerned businessmen to take the vehicles imported from neighboring china on time by making huge investment. According to locals, the settlements around Rasuwagadhi border point are at risk due to possible floods and landslides.
