Agreement to form seven-member committee to investigate ‘cooling period’

Kathmandu.  The major political parties have agreed to form a parliamentary special committee to investigate the questions raised regarding the cooling period in the Federal Civil Service Bill and the controversial issues.

Chief Whip TAG_OPEN_div_14 of Rastriya Swatantra Party, Santosh Pariyar, said that a meeting between chief whips and whips of five major political parties held at Speaker Devraj Ghimire’s residence agreed to form a seven-member probe committee.

TAG_OPEN_div_12 The committee will have two lawmakers each from the Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) and one each from the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). The committee will have the mandate to submit its report within 21 days of its formation.

According TAG_OPEN_div_10 to him, the business advisory committee has decided to finalize the names of the lawmakers in the committee and present them in the House of Representatives meeting.

The committee TAG_OPEN_div_8 is being formed to investigate whether the provision in this regard was presented in a different way after it was passed by the House of Representatives, State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, which had agreed to keep a cooling period for two years in the Civil Service Bill.
