Kathmandu. Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal has urged british entrepreneurs for long-term cooperation in digital trade and investment.
Addressing the “Nepal-UK Tech Forum” organized by the Nepali Embassy in the UK in London, he pointed out the possibility of investment in technology and digital services in Nepal and called for joint investment, startup exchange and long-term collaboration in the areas of information technology, e-governance, fintech, azu-tech, among others.
Informing about the transformation in Nepal’s investment environment and technology-friendly policies, Chairman Dhakal said that it was a favorable time to invest in the information technology sector. Nepal has paid special attention to legal reforms to create an investment-friendly environment. More than 30 laws have been amended in the last one year. Which has made the business and investment process easier. He said that the Federation has set up an “FDI Support Desk” to facilitate the investors and the business registration and management process has been made digital through the National Citizen App. ”
Stressing on the need for international collaboration for nepal’s digital infrastructure development, promotion of online systems and strengthening the technical standards and infrastructure required to compete globally, Dhakal said the digital trade and services sector should be made competitive with the global market as Nepal is preparing to be upgraded from least developed country (LDC) after 2026.
Stating that nepal’s private sector contributes more than 80 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) and has also played a major role in job creation, he said the private sector of Nepal was ready to take the lead in building a digital economy. “

The event was attended by uk-based technical experts, investors and representatives of the diplomatic community and discussed how to deepen digital trade and technology partnership between Nepal and the UK.
