Seven roads in different districts completely blocked due to floods and landslides

Kathmandu. Seven road sections of various highways across the country have been completely blocked due to floods and landslides triggered by the rains.

Roads in Sankhuwasabha, Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhupalchowk, Dolpa, Rukum West, Jajarkot and Bajura have been completely blocked due to floods and landslides.

According to Nepal Police’s central spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Binod Ghimire, the Koshi Highway has been completely blocked due to rain in Bhotkhola rural municipality of Sankhuwasabha. Similarly, a landslide at Banepa Municipality-4 in Kavrepalanchowk blocked bhaktapur section via Banepa Nala and a bridge over the road was broken at the site, he said.

Ghimire said the Araniko highway has been completely blocked due to landslide at Kodari of Bhotekoshi rural municipality in Sindhupalchowk. The Bheri Corridor has been obstructed due to flooding at Tripurasundari Municipality-1, Chhalghat of Dolpa and Jajarkot Dolpa Bheri Corridor due to flood in Rijigar of Athabiskot Municipality-6 in Rukum West.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Ghimire said the Martadi-Kolti road has been completely closed due to landslide at Dakheribhir of Chhedagad municipality-3 and landslide at Dhamkale Bhasupatal in Badimalika municipality-7 of Bajura.

According to police, the Baglung-thi-based Kaligandaki Corridor and the Shaheed Highway, which were blocked due to landslides at Akhte in Rolpa, have come into operation unilaterally. Similarly, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Gulmi, which was obstructed due to landslide at Parivartan Rural Municipality-5 in Rolpa, has been opened unilaterally, police said.
