“We are making a lot of efforts to streamline the TIA, a planned program has been put forward to make the airport’s decoration and service efficient and effective, a committee has been formed under the leadership of the general manager of the airport with representation from all as there are inter-concerned bodies like immigration, customs, security agencies, airlines etc. at the airport,” he said. । ’

Tourism Minister Pandey clarified that the TIA sector was facing difficulties in managing passengers as it was narrow due to its limitations. “Compared to other countries, TIA is narrow, physical infrastructure including terminal is not enough, due to the limitations of space, passengers seem to be near the airport and terminal building, so it seems that passengers will reach the terminal building quickly and it takes a long time to bring luggage, passengers from other countries get off the plane and reach the terminal, due to which it seems that they have to wait a long time,” he said.

Tourism Minister Pandey said that although TIA has a capacity of Rs 4.5 million to carry passengers, 9.5 million passengers have been transported this year.

Minister Pandey expressed the belief that initiatives would be taken with the Chinese Embassy through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the visa process for the tourists going to Mansarovar.

In today’s meeting, the committee held discussions with the revisers on the Air Services Authority Bill, 2081 BS. On the bill, the amenders stressed the need to strengthen the law to make the country’s aviation security systematic, safe and reliable.

Lawmakers Bhanubhakta Joshi, Sher Bahadur Kunwar and Prakash Jwala pointed out the need to make air services safer by enriching the bill. Lawmaker Roshan Karki stressed the need for early conclusion of the bill as it was very necessary and relevant to the time.

Lawmaker Prem Suwal drew the attention of the stakeholders to the management of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) and construction of a well-equipped international airport.

Lawmaker Eknath Dhakal drew the attention of the Ministry of Tourism to make Tribhuvan International Airport systematic, accessible, safe and service-friendly.

Lawmaker Shishir Khanal demanded the Tourism Minister to facilitate the visa process, saying hundreds of foreign nationals were waiting in the hotel due to the delay in the visa process for tourists going to Mansarovar.
