Provincial Industrial Exhibition in Karnali to encourage entrepreneurs

Karnali. Birendranagar, the capital of Karnali Province, has concluded a provincial industrial exhibition with an aim to emphasize on enterprise, production and productivity with labour, skills and creation.

Speaking at the closing ceremon TAG_OPEN_div_26 y of the exhibition on Sunday, Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of the province Suresh Adhikari said that the exhibition would help in local production and marketing and encourage entrepreneurs. “The use of local resources has greatly helped in the promotion and marketing of the products produced,” he said, adding, “However, such an important program should be implemented by mid-June in the next fiscal year.” ’

Kamala Oli Shiwakoti, a member TAG_OPEN_div_24 of the Chure Tarai Madhes Conservation Development Committee, said that the increase in local and domestic production would help replace imports. He suggested that the state government should give priority to the protection, promotion and development of enterprises and entrepreneurs.

Sher Bahadur Shrestha, Acting Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, said that the exhibition provided information about the products, traditional and improved technology produced by micro, domestic and small industries in Karnali State. TAG_OPEN_div_22

Devi Lal Sapkota, director TAG_OPEN_div_20 of the Directorate of Protection of Industry and Consumer Interest, Surkhet, said that the exhibition would help in local production, promotion, quality, branding and marketing of Karnali. According to him, there are around 36,000 micro, domestic and small scale industries in Karnali.

Satendra Kumar Yadav, section officer TAG_OPEN_div_18 at the Directorate of Industries, said that emphasis should be laid on the promotion and development of micro, domestic and small industries and building women, disabled, single women and Dalit-friendly industries. According to him, the Karnali government has moved ahead with the slogan ‘Make in Karnali, Made in Karnali’.

TAG_OPEN_div_16 Radipakhi, Dailekh shower shoes, honey, incense sticks, herbs, indigenous crops, aloe, lokta, duna, tapri and other items were displayed in the exhibition. The exhibition has further encouraged entrepreneurs. The directorate has awarded Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively to the first, second and third winners of the exhibition.

Similarly, cash prize TAG_OPEN_div_14 s of Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 were awarded to the first, second and third students in the essay competition organized on the occasion of ‘Karnali Provincial Industrial Exhibition 2082’. A total of 65 stalls were set up at the exhibition. The exhibition was organized by the Directorate for Protection of Industry and Consumer Interest.
