Myagdi. Myagdi: The road connecting Ghodepani, a tourist spot in Annapurna Rural Municipality-6 of Myagdi, has been upgraded. Myagdi: The Infrastructure Development Office, Myagdi under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management, Government of Gandaki State, has started upgrading the road connecting Chitre to Ghodepani in Annapurna Rural Municipality-6.

Infrastructure Development Office Myagdi chief Bishnu Poudel said the contractor company has started widening the road for upgradation. Bikesh Jay Dupche JV had signed the contract for Rs 22.39 million on November 27, 2081 BS.

The state government has allocated Rs 7.5 million for the upcoming fiscal year 2082÷83 BS. Under this scheme, the road will be widened to four kilometers from Chitre to Ghodepani, grade and rotation will be improved, the road will be graveled by constructing drains and retaining walls.

The road, which was opened in 2075 BS with the budget of gandaki state government, has been upgraded after seven years. Former chairperson of Annapurna Rural Municipality, Dam Bahadur Pun, who is also a resident of Ghodepani, said that with the easing of the road, the arrival of tourists will increase in the Ghodepani-Punhil area and it will be easier for the locals to move.

The 18-km road connecting Pokharebagar to Chitre, the centre of the rural municipality, was upgraded by the federal government last year. According to Gandaki State Assembly member Hari Bahadur Bhandari, who was elected from Myagdi 1910, the multi-year contract was awarded in the fiscal year 2080÷81 BS by ensuring the source of rs 30 million budget.

Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey, who was here to attend a review programme of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management held at Ghodepani in the second week of December 2080 BS, had announced to start the multi-year contract process for upgrading the Chitre Ghodepani road on the proposal of the then Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management, Resham Bahadur Jugjali.

The road connecting Ghodepani of Myagdi via Nayapul, Tikhedhunga and Uleri of Kaski is likely to be made an alternative to parbat Pokharebagar section of Pokhara Beni Jomsom road. Ghodepani Punhill, located on the Annapurna circuit trekking route, is famous for sightseeing. More than 30,000 foreign tourists visit nepal annually.
