Myagdi. With the onset of rain, the tourist places here have become deserted. The number of tourists visiting Ghodepani, Punhil, Mohredanda, Khopra, Todke, Annapurna base camp, Singa and Bhurung, Tatopani Kunda, Rupse and Narchiang waterfalls has decreased.
Chairperson of hotel management sub-committee at Ghodepani of Annapurna rural municipality-6, Mina Pun, said the arrival of tourists has decreased in recent times due to inclement weather.
Stating that there are 25 luxury hotels with a capacity of 1,000 per day in Ghodepani, which is the main destination of the world famous Annapurna circular trekking route, he said these hotels are deserted these days.
“Tourism is considered unseasonal in terms of business as it is rainy and roads and trekking routes are blocked from May to August,” pun said. ’
Bhurung Tatopani of Annapurna Rural Municipality-2 and Singa Tatopani Kund of Beni-4 have also been deserted for tourists visiting Mustang via Beni-Jomsom road.
Birendra Man Shakya, former chairman of Singa Tatopani Kunda Management Committee, said that around 1,000 religious tourists who take bath every day during the tourist season come to bathe in tatopani kund.
Tourists come to Myagdi for trekking, mountain climbing, snow ranges, sunrises, waterfalls, galchi, rural life and observing the culture of different ethnicities. The months of September, October, February, April and April are considered as tourist seasons.
Tourist arrivals in the months of June, June, July and August have been zero. With the arrival of tourists, hotels and tourism entrepreneurs have become relaxed and there is no movement on the trekking route. According to the District Police Office, around 30,000 foreign tourists visit Myagdi annually.
