Kathmandu. A meeting was held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Monday to resolve the problems seen in the construction of Tokha-Chhahare Khola tunnel, operation of Nagdhunga tunnel and improvement of Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi road.
Discussions were held to expedite the construction of road infrastructure with the beginning of the new fiscal year and to carry out homework on infrastructure construction and improvement in order to simplify the vehicle management targeting the upcoming Dashain-Tihar. According to PM’s personal secretary Binod Bahadur Kunwar, directives have been issued to facilitate the forest ministry and other agencies to resolve the misunderstanding and the work to be done by the Chinese side regarding the feasibility of the project and the problems arising out of the construction and approval of the environmental study report of the Tokha-Chhaharekhola tunnel.
Discussions were held on the legal provisions, structure and problems seen in the nagdhunga tunnel as the physical progress for the operation of the tunnel has reached 92 percent and it has to be operated after the completion of the construction. It was emphasized to make detailed preparations as this topic is going to be nepal’s first exercise.
Out of the total length of 82 km of Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi road being constructed with chinese government grant, 38 km has been blacktopped so far and the remaining 19 km will also be awarded in the new fiscal year. The Prime Minister’s Office has said that if any facilitation is required, it will do so.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s Economic Development Advisor Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, Pm’s Public Relations Advisor Kiran Poudel, Pmo Secretary Raj Kumar Shrestha, Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Keshab Kumar Sharma, Secretary at the Ministry of Forest and Environment Rajendra Prasad Mishra, Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration Rabi Lal Pantha, among others, were present in the meeting.
