Kathmandu. Vice Chairman of The National Planning Commission Prof. Shivaraj Adhikari has said that the results can be shown in agriculture rather than in the policy sector.

Speaking at a national policy dialogue programme on conservation, development and promotion of indigenous seeds and animal breeds organized by the CPN-UML Central Department of Agriculture and Livestock Development in Kathmandu today, Vice-Chairman Adhikari said that results could be shown in the agriculture sector in a short time. ।

Vice-Chairman Adhikari said that there are questions about which of the indigenous and hybrid should be taken in agriculture, adding that hybrids should be given importance in terms of production, economic growth and market, but it should not be forgotten as the indigenous crops protect the ecosystem and increase the income of women by increasing nutritional value.

He said that it is important to evaluate how much environmental protection and protection it has provided, how many women’s income and quality of life have improved rather than how much muri and how many kg have been produced.

He said synergy and trade-offs should be identified while formulating policies whether it is agriculture sector or other sectors.

Vice-Chairman Adhikari also opined that the policy issues formulated by the Planning Commission should reach the doorsteps of the farmers.
