Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) has refused to pass an interim order restraining Governor Dr Bishwanath Poudel from working.

A division bench of Justices Kumar Regmi and Mahesh Sharma Poudel on Tuesday refused to pass any interim order in the case filed against Governor Poudel.

Advocate Bishal Thapa, among others, had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against Poudel. The Supreme Court had issued a show-cause order on May 14 and summoned both the parties for discussion on the interim order.

In the writ petition, an interim order was sought in the name of the opposition not to carry out any far-reaching work in the capacity of governor affecting the nation on matters of serious national importance, including signing of notes, as it would take time to settle the case.

The petition claimed that Poudel was a person with a political background, did not have the necessary experience in the monetary sector and did not have the necessary educational qualifications as per Section 15 of the Rastra Bank Act, 2058.
