Vehicular movement on Besisahar-Chame road banned

Lamjung. Vehicular movement on besisahar-Chame road connecting Lamjung and Manang has been suspended since tonight.

A meeting of the District Security Committee, Lamjung on Tuesday concluded that travel during the rainy season was risky and decided to ban the operation of vehicles from 7 pm to 5 am the next day.

According to Chief District Officer Madhav Prasad Pokharel, all non-essential vehicles have been banned during this period.

Public, private and government vehicles have been banned from plying on the Besisahar-Chame-Khangsar ‘Upper Manang’ road section at night until further decisions are taken to prevent damage to passengers and vehicles.

Vehicles will not be allowed to leave koto near Chame after 4:30 pm for Besisahar. These vehicles should leave the Taldanda Police Post at Naso Rural Municipality-1 before 6:30 pm. Out of the total 65 kilometers, 35 kilometers are in Lamjung and 30 kilometers in Manang.

The then Nepal Army personnel based in Besisahar had handed over the road to the Road Division Office, Damauli, Tanahun after completing the construction of the road in 2069 BS.
