Kailali. Parshu Narayan Chaudhary of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-11, Banskheda has been rearing commercial pigs for the last 14 years. Chaudhary’s farm currently has 27 pigs. His farm sells piglets worth Rs 3 million annually.
He said that on an average, rs 1.2 million is earned annually by deducting expenses. He said that the income has also started to improve as the business is flourishing. It takes about a month to reach the age of raising and selling piglets. They sell a lamb or a lamb for Rs 6,000.
He said that he has started brick kilns and spice industries in the village with his earnings from pig farming. “Pig farming has grown well,” he said, adding, “The business of this business has increased and it has become profitable, now I have started a small brick kiln and spice industry in the village, through which the family members got work.” ’
Chaudhary has received a grant of Rs 90,000 this year from the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Specialist Centre in Dhangadhi. He said that the grant amount has made it easier to do business. He has also been rewarded as a successful farmer.
He said that he started selling meat in the early years as there was no market for meat. He said that it would be easier for the farmers to set up cold stores and slaughterhouses by the government for ease of doing business.
