Traffic police collect Rs 3 crore revenue

Tansen. The District Traffic Office has collected Rs 32,190,600 as fine from 59,755 people for violating traffic rules. This amount is from the fiscal year 2078/79 to mid-May of the current fiscal year.

According to District Traffic Office Chief Praveen Acharya, the amount has been collected as fine from those involved in illegal activities such as violating traffic rules, consuming alcohol, charging more than the prescribed fare, recovering money from private vehicles.

In the last three years, there were 243 road accidents in which 124 people lost their lives and 83 were injured. He said that road accidents have increased due to dilapidated roads, negligence of drivers, high speed and tendency to drive under the influence of alcohol.
