Myagdi. Myagdi: The 220 kV Chimkhola-Rahughat transmission line has been tested to integrate the electricity generated from the Rahughat Basin hydropower project of Myagdi into the central system.
A 13-km long transmission line has been constructed from Chimkhola to Galeshwor-Based Rahughat to connect the electricity of 35 MW Chimkhola-Mangale Rahughat, 48.5 MW Upper Rahughat, 21.3 MW Borokhola and 23.5 MW Upper Borokhola hydropower projects to the central system.
Upendra Gautam, a representative of Tundi Power, promoter of Chimkhola-Mangale Rahughat and Upper Rahughat, informed that electricity is being sent to the central system through the 220 KV Dana-Khurkot transmission line from the switchyard of Rahughat temporarily until the sub-station under construction at Raghuganga Rural Municipality-3, Ambang is completed through the Nepal Electricity Authority.
Physical structures including dams, tunnels, penstock pipes and equipment of the power house of Chimkhola-Mangale Rahughat and Borokhola hydropower projects have already been tested. Upper Rahughat and Upper Borokhola are in the final stages of construction.
Tundi’s representative Gautam said that the transmission line connecting Chimkhola to Rahughat switchyard at Galeshwor is being tested by supplying electricity. Electricity will be added to the central system immediately after the test, he said. There are 39 towers from Chimkhola to Rahughat.
The four projects have collaborated to build a structure to supply electricity through a single transmission line. The transmission line has been built by collaborating with the respective projects from one to the other from the switchyard and then to the substation.
In a public notice issued today, Tundi Power has urged the residents of the affected areas not to touch the towers and wires of the transmission line where the test has started and to be cautious while going to the banks of the Rahughat river. Transmission lines and towers have been constructed in Ward No. 3, 4 and 7 of Raghuganga Rural Municipality.
The project has requested people not to go to the banks of the river for fishing, swimming, bathing, covering firewood and not to take cattle and livestock as the water level of the river fluctuates after watering the power house.
