Baitadi. Baitadi: Two persons were killed in a jeep accident in Baitadi. Two persons were killed when a jeep (Supra 04 001 Ja 1372) en route to Ganna of Darchula from Dhangadhi met with an accident.

The deceased have been identified as Santosh Bahadur Rana, 24, of Dilasaini rural municipality-1 and Kiran Bohara, 32, of the same area, said Police Inspector Balram Pandey, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Baitadi.

Six others were injured in the accident. The injured have been identified as Ram Kumar Rana, 45, Bhagrati Khatri, 21, his two-year-old daughter Alyssa, Hemanta Prasad Bhatta, 21, Rajendra Bahadur Khatri, 27, and Kamala Dhami, 51. Rajendra and Kalma have been sent to Dhangadhi for further treatment, according to the District Police Office, Baitadi.

The accident took place at 5:30 am on Saturday at Khipali in Patan-6 of Baitadi. A team of Area Police Office Patan and locals were involved in the rescue operation after receiving information about the accident. The jeep is stuck on a cliff about 100 meters below the road. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.
