Division Chief Jhalak Mohan Ojha said that the test was successful on Friday by installing a pump of 25 horsepower capacity in the 10-meter deep well and drawing water to tankiki of Sundarchaur 250 meters above.

A 750-metre-long pipeline has supplied five liters of water per second from Kaligandaki with the help of electrical equipment. A structure has been prepared to distribute water on both sides to reach the intake at Dahare of Upallachaur, an additional 100 meters above the tank of Sundarchaur.

A reserve tank of 65,000 liters capacity has been constructed to supply drinking water to Ratnechaur and another 25,000-liter capacity tank constructed at Salghari, an additional 100 meters above Dahare, has been constructed for the distribution of water in Salghari and Upallachaur.

A total of 1,700 meters of main and 17 kilometers of branch pipelines and 233 houses have already been constructed. Ratna Bahadur Khatri, chairman of the users’ committee, said preparations have been made to distribute drinking water to the houses of Ratnechaur residents from next September after completing the installation of two levels of water drawing equipment, electrification and taps.

The drinking water project constructed in Ratnechaur in 2035 BS had become dilapidated and disorganized. There was not enough water supply as dilapidated structures and sources were drying up. Natural-Pradeep Jumli JV, which had signed the contract on July 27, 2017, has so far reached the final stage of construction of the physical infrastructure of the project at a cost of Rs 23 million.

A budget of Rs 3.5 million has been allocated in the next fiscal year to complete the project, which has so far spent Rs 31.8 million including electricity connection and purchase of drinking water tap materials. Ward Chair Tek Bahadur Thapa said that the project, which was stalled due to the problem of source and the delay of the contractors, has reached the stage of completion by bringing it back to the rhythm at the initiative of the people’s representatives, consumers and the office.
