Stock market record: Transaction amount increased by 189.23 percent, market capitalization increased by 31.05 percent to 4.65 trillion

Kathmandu. Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) has set a historic record in the secondary market of securities in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS. According to NEPSE, other indices have also improved significantly in the last fiscal year.

According to the data, securities worth Rs 734.68 billion were traded in the fiscal year 2080/81 BS. In the fiscal year 2081/82, the transaction amounted to Rs 2,124.91 billion. The transaction amount is 189.23 percent higher than the fiscal year 2080/81. Earlier, in the fiscal year 2077÷78, the highest amount of transaction (Rs 1454.44 billion) was recorded.

Similarly, the market capitalization has increased by 31.05 percent to Rs 4,656.98 billion in mid-July 2082 from Rs 3,553.67 billion in mid-July 2081. By the end of the fiscal year 2081/82, the number of listed companies has reached 272. Three companies have been removed from the list due to mergers and acquisitions in that financial year, while four companies have been added through the first public issue.

A total of 804.285 million units of shares including 36.5 million units of shares through the first issue, 1.12 million units of shares through additional issue, 43.258 million units of shares added by the government and distributed to locals, 378.1 million units of mutual funds and 8.3 million units of institutional debentures have been listed.
