Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground is being worked out by paying Rs 200,000 per day

Kathmandu. Work is underway to upgrade the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground at Kirtipur to build a parapet and install floodlights.

The government has fined the contractor company for failing to complete the work on time. According to the agreement, 0.05 percent of the total amount of the project will have to be paid daily. According to the Ministry of Urban Development, more than Rs 200,000 should be paid as compensation every day.

The Joint Venture Company (JV) of BKOI KCDC BG and Bishan Ishwari JV had signed an agreement with the Federal Secretariat Construction and Management Office under the Ministry on February 19 and 22 for the installation of floodlights to build the parapet of the ground.

An agreement was signed for rs 492.5 million for the construction of the parapet and Rs 473.7 million for the installation of flood lights. The contractor company was informed on July 27 that it would be compensated if the work was not completed within the stipulated time.

Since Tuesday, the work has been going on by paying daily damages. There will be daily losses until the work is done. According to the law, a maximum of 200 days i.e. 10 percent of the total amount of the project can be worked by paying damages. There is a provision to blacklist if the work is not done during that period.

The construction company has promised to complete the work within a month, according to the office. At present, 4,000 chairs have been installed and three of the six floodlights have arrived. Financial progress towards parapet is 63 percent and physical progress is 77 percent. 29 percent financial and 45 percent physical progress has been made towards the installation of floodlights.
