Chitwan. Bharatpur Metropolitan City has increased both expenditure and income compared to the previous year. Both capital expenditure and revenue collection have increased. The metropolis has collected Rs 1.36 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year. This is an increase of Rs 57.69 million over the previous fiscal year.
According to Jagannath Aryal, chief of the Revenue Division of the Metropolis, 83 percent of the target revenue has been collected. The office had set a target of collecting Rs 1.8 billion in revenue. The revenue collection from the Land Revenue Office was estimated at Rs 780 million, but only Rs 520 million has been collected. Similarly, there has been some decrease in revenue due to delay in environmental impact assessment of stones, ballast and sand.
Aryal said that the property tax has doubled the target. Out of the target of Rs 87.8 million, rs 158 million revenue has been collected. Laxmi Prasad Poudel, chief administrative officer of the metropolis, said that the revenue of these areas has decreased due to the closure of business and the number of houses has decreased. He said they were investigating why the recommendation and fee fees were reduced. He said that the target has doubled as the people of the metropolis have come under the purview of property tax.
Similarly, the expenditure has been increased by about 12 percent compared to the previous fiscal year, he said. The capital expenditure is Rs 1.68 billion. This is 61.71 percent of the target. In the previous fiscal year, only 50.43 percent of the capital expenditure was incurred. A total of Rs 1.86 billion was spent that year.
According to Poudel, the budget received for administrative buildings and stadiums from the federal and provincial governments has not been included in the capital expenditure. Poudel said that 70 percent progress would be achieved by including this. “The capital expenditure has increased due to the continuous hard work we have put in since the beginning of the last fiscal year,” he said. But we are still not satisfied. ’
Acting Mayor of The Metropolitan City, Chitrasen Adhikari, said that the work could not be carried out on time as the technicians have been directed to allocate the scope in time and prepare and submit the cost estimate. He said that the capital expenditure could be increased due to timely procurement process, regular monitoring by the mayor, himself and the chief administrative officer and giving necessary instructions. He said, “What has been done has been good, it has not yet reached. ’
He said that due to the decrease in the registration of land revenue, the failure to do the bidding work on time of river products and the failure to collect the house tax as per the target, the revenue could not reach the target. The economic slowdown has also led to a decline in revenue.
