Myagdi. An embankment has been constructed at Lamgara of Beni municipality-1, which is prone to erosion and flooding in Kaligandaki.

The Office of Irrigation and Water Resources Management has constructed a 150-metre embankment along the Kaligandaki river from Setodhunga in Lamgara to ratnechaur lift drinking water project with a budget of Rs 7 million.

Engineer narjung Gurung of the office has been plastered and jacketed in some parts to save the gabion wire mesh used in the embankment from getting irritated.

Around 50 families in Lamgara feel safe after the embankment was constructed. Kamal Thapa, chairman of the users’ committee, said that the settlement of Lamgara, hundreds of ropanis of cultivable land, Lamgara-Milanchowk suspension bridge and tank of Ratnechaur Lift Drinking Water Project have been protected. This settlement is a pocket area of vegetables.
