Nepali carpets exported to third countries

Birgunj. Prestige Carpet Industries, located in bara-Parsa industrial corridor, has started exporting its products to third countries. On Thursday, Industries exported 30,000 square meters of carpets from the dry port to third countries.

According to Aman Sah, united operator of the industry, it has started exporting its products to countries including the United Arab Emirates, African countries Kenya and the United States. Earlier, it had been exporting its products to India.

“Carpets worth Rs 10 million have been exported to third countries through dry ports,” he said, adding that they have been able to export to third countries after long efforts.

The factory located in Jitpur-Simara sub-metropolis-23 has provided employment to 100 people. The industry has the capacity to produce 2 million square meters annually. According to the industry, carpets worth Rs 900 to Rs 4,000 per square meter are produced. An investment of Rs 400 million has been made in the industry which has been in operation for the last five years.

Meanwhile, Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Hari Gautam said it was a matter of happiness that raw materials were brought from abroad and exported to foreign countries again.
