Kathmandu. A former employee of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has been arrested in connection with the rs 4.9 billion irregularities in karnali development bank.
Kathmandu: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested bhuwan Basnet, a former employee of Nepal Rastra Bank( NRB), from Tokha in Kathmandu on Friday.
According to sources, Basnet was arrested for making a report to the bank that the financial condition was bad. Several other persons may be arrested for irregularities of Karnali Development Bank, which has its central office in Banke.
Basnet, who was the monitoring officer of the bank despite the bank’s financial condition being serious, has submitted the report saying it is fine. Earlier, the CIB had written a letter to the Nepal Rastra Bank seeking details of those who went for monitoring.
In the bank scam case, india has arrested founder chairman Rajendra Bir Raya, former chairman and UML central member Pashupati Dayal Mishra, former CEO Dinesh Kumar Rawat, finance department chief Ved Prakash Thakuri and Neeraj Bikram Shah. Basnet will also be sent to Nepalgunj for further investigation.
