Road blacktopped after 33 years of opening of track

Gorkha. Gorkha: The blacktopping work on the Majhuwa-Baitari-Hatia road section of Gorkha municipality has begun after 33 years of opening the track. The road section connecting Deurali of Municipality-13 and Ratmate of Palungtar Municipality-8 has been blacktopped from Jaikot to Ghorthumka.

Gorkha-13 ward chair Mitra Pariyar said that the blacktopping of 400 meters of road has been completed through the budget allocated by the Small Urban Development Office, Kaski. She said, “For the first time in ward no. 13, blacktopping of roads has been seen inside the ward. The track was opened in 2049 BS and it took 33 years to see the upgradation of this road. ’

Laxman Shrestha, proprietor of chirag construction, said that the construction of 400 meters of road blacktopping, 75 meters of slope and 500 meters of drain has been completed. The contractor company had signed the contract for the construction of the road at a cost of Rs 6,635,939.

Although it is connected to the Gorkha-Abukhairni road section under the Prithvi Highway, the residents of the area have been facing difficulties in commuting due to lack of upgradation for a long time. This road section is the main road connecting Palungtar municipality through Majhuwa Chowki, Darai village, Jaikot, Satdobate, Baitari.

Bikram Malla, a local, said that the road was gradually changing its face with the blacktopping work and it has excited the locals. “Now it will be easier to take the agricultural produce produced in the villages to the market. There will also be relief in bringing daily necessities to the village. It has been our dream for years, which is being fulfilled,” he said.

According to the municipality, works are being carried out from Majhuwachowki to Darai village with a budget of Rs 10 million, while the work from Darai village to Jaikot has been allocated Rs 40 million.
