Two new bridges open in Sankhuwasabha

Khandbari. Sankhuwasabha: A concrete bridge connecting two important places of Sankhuwasabha has officially come into operation from Saturday. These bridges are expected to ease the movement of locals and market access of agricultural produce.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka inaugurated the bridges at a programme here on Saturday. Stating that people could not get services on time due to the negligence of the contractors, he said such delay was no longer acceptable.

The construction of the 63-metre-long bridge over Yawara Rivulet connecting Chainpur Municipality-1 and Madi Municipality-9 began in 2073 BS. Although the target was to complete the project by December 2079 BS, it took more than three years due to the delay in the contractor company Kunsaling construction service. Rs 71.96 million has been spent on the construction of the bridge.

The 63-metre-long bridge over Mayakhola connecting Dharmadevi Municipality-4 and Madi Municipality-6 has been completed three-and-a-half years behind schedule due to negligence of the construction company. The construction of the bridge, which started in 2074 BS, cost Rs 62.53 million.

With the operation of these two bridges, the local residents will get relief in transportation and transportation of agricultural produce.
