Gorkha. A total of 122,733 tourists visited the Gorkha Durbar Museum in the last one year. According to museum chief Jaya Narayan Karki, domestic and foreign tourists visited the museum in the last fiscal year 2081/82 BS.
A total of 119,187 visitors visited the museum in the fiscal year 2080/81 BS. “Looking at the latest statistics, the number of tourists visiting the museum is increasing every year. In the last one year, there have been 84,257 domestic tourists visiting the museum.
During the same period, 36,298 students visited the museum during educational visits, while 175 foreign tourists from SAARC countries and 2,003 foreign tourists from third countries visited the museum.
According to him, the highest number of tourists have visited the Gorkha Durbar Museum since the opening of the museum so far. The museum was opened to the general public and tourists in 2065 BS.
Visitors visiting the museum will be able to see the 44-cubit long identity of the then King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the weapons used during the unification of Nepal, utensils, costumes and musical instruments reflecting the identity of different ethnicities.
Spread over an area of about 68 ropanis, the museum is known as a place to study the entire history of Unification of Nepal. The palace, built in the architectural style with a traditional identity, looks attractive from the outside.
Tourists forget for hours in 12 different exhibition rooms, including the Genealogy Room of the Shah dynasty, the Divine Sermon Room, the Oil Painting Room, within the museum.
