China to invest in four projects, signs moU with Finance Ministry

Kathmandu. China will invest in four projects in Nepal. For this, a bilateral signing program has been held at the Ministry of Finance on Monday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel and Chairman of China’s International Development Assistance Agency (SIDCA) Chen Xiaodong held a meeting today.

Similarly, during the meeting held at the Ministry of Finance, discussions were held on bilateral relations between Nepal and China, development partnership, projects run with Chinese assistance and now to be implemented.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed on the project related to the construction of bone marrow transplantation at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur, Chitwan and a feasibility study for the expansion of civil servants hospital. Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyay and Sidca Chairman signed the agreement on behalf of Nepal and China respectively.

A bone marrow cancer treatment centre spread over an area of 1,834 square meters will be constructed and necessary machinery will be installed at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur. This will significantly contribute to the treatment of bone marrow cancer.

Similarly, a feasibility study will also be conducted for the expansion of civil servants hospital. The implementation of these two agreements is expected to contribute significantly to Nepal’s health sector. On this occasion, Nepal and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on human resource development. This will provide an opportunity to 1,270 government employees to participate in bilateral and multilateral seminars organized by various institutions in China. This will contribute significantly to the capacity building of the employees.

On the occasion, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) MD Hitendra Dev Shakya and SID Chairman signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the feasibility study for the construction of rasuwagadhi-Kerung cross-border transmission line. This will advance the feasibility study related to the construction of Rasuwagadhi Kerung transmission line.
