Damauli. Tanahu: A bridge has been constructed at Kumlekhola in Shuklagandaki Municipality-6, Belbot Phedi of Tanahun district five months ahead of schedule. Although the agreement was to be completed on December 15, the bridge was constructed five months before that.
The construction of a concrete bridge on the road leading to the famous Teenkhola Temple has helped in movement. Shankar Saru, a local, said that the locals were happy with the construction of the bridge before the agreement at a time when there was a tendency among the contractors not to work despite repeated extensions.
The bridge has been constructed through the Local Infrastructure Development Project Office, Pokhara of the Ministry of Urban Development. Krishna Raj Pandit, mayor of Shuklagandaki Municipality, informed that the double cell box design bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 28 million 59 thousand 979.
Western Popular Construction Pvt Ltd Gulmi had signed the contract on July 12, 2081 BS with a target to complete the project on December 1, 2082 BS. Gagan KC, a representative of the private company, said that the work was completed ahead of time with the support of all.
It has been 27 years since this road was opened. Locals have been facing problems in the rainy season due to lack of a concrete bridge at Kumlekhola on the Tinkhole Devi motorway, located at a distance of three kilometers from the Prithvi Highway. Bal Kumar Wagle, a local, said that the compulsion to cross the border by taking risks in the rainy season has now ended.
From Kherainitar Bazaar, the temple of the famous Teenkhole Devi is reached by crossing the Kumle khola. Wagle, who is also the chairman of the Motorway Users Committee, believes that the number of devotees going to the temple will also increase after the construction of the bridge here.
Ward Chair of Shuklagandaki Municipality-6, Buddhi Bahadur Thapa, recalled that although the vehicles were operated with a humpipe in the rainy season, the humpipe used to be washed away when the river rises.
Former Minister and Member of The House of Representatives Shankar Bhandari inaugurated the bridge on Saturday.
