Gorkha. The earthquake memorial park at Barpak of Barpak Sulikot rural municipality-1, the epicentre of the Gorkha earthquake, has listed the names of those who lost their lives in the earthquake.

According to Purushottam Pangeni, an engineer at the Federal Project Implementation Unit, Pokhara, the names of 490 people from Gorkha who lost their lives in the earthquake of April 12, 2018 have been kept at the memorial park.

He said that the list of the dead of all the 14 districts who lost their lives in the earthquake in the park would be kept in separate columns, but only the names of the deceased of Gorkha have been kept as the List of All the deceased has not been received from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Engineer Pangeni said, “Many letters have been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, after the names of the deceased of 13 districts other than Gorkha could not be made available, the central project implementation unit has decided to keep the names of the deceased of Gorkha only. ’

The work of the memorial park has been delayed due to non-receipt of the names of all those who lost their lives in the Gorkha earthquake. The construction of the park was carried out by signing a contract agreement on December 1, 2017. Pillars, gardens and other structures have been constructed in about 216 ropanis of land owned by the government.

Bhola Marhattha of Swachchhanda÷Home Nirman JV, a contractor company, informed that the work of blacktopping the 400-meter road leading to the Memorial Pillar Mandla, Mandala, painting and memorial park has already been completed.

A canteen park and ticket counter have also been constructed inside the memorial park. Similarly, two toilets, a tannery and a parking lot have also been constructed in the park, he said. The project implementation unit had signed a contract with the contractor company for the construction of the memorial park at a cost of Rs 136.34 million.
